Pandemic Photography

Few of us who have experienced the world-changing SARs COV-2 (Covid-19) pandemic will soon forget the consequences either at home or across the globe, or indeed our experiences of living with the concerns associated with it.

In line with my thoughts that memories of events can change and be erased with time, I decided to capture my experiences throughout the period.  I have focussed on my home area simply because for most of the time it was impossible to travel more than a few miles.

I have decided to build a series of galleries to reflect how the greater Blackpool area has been affected by the pandemic, from closure to re-opening. In addition to general images I contacted my friends at Twelve our local restaurant to document their journey in some detail. This work will eventually become the basis for a book.

Blackpool is Closed

Blackpool is home and has suffered more than most places as result of the pandemic. It is heavily dependent on tourism and was closed last spring at a time when we had wall to wall sunshine for weeks on end.

Twelve is still here

Twelve is our favourite local restaurant. When lockdown came it closed. This project is about the Twelve family as the restaurant gets back on its feet.
